ADF paper jams are frustrating, but they’re rarely a sign your feeder is “beyond repair”—in most cases, worn parts are the culprit. Our factory has spent 11 years refining how to fix (and prevent) ADF jams using refurbished components, and we’re sharing our top tips:
First, diagnose the jam type:
  • Multi-sheet jams:The pickup roller is worn (it can’t grip a single sheet). Replace it with our refurbished OEM-grade roller—we pre-treat the rubber to boost friction.
  • Skewed paper jams:The paper guide clips are broken or misaligned. Our refurbished guide assemblies have reinforced clips that don’t snap under regular use.
  • Jam errors (no paper present):The ADF sensor is dirty or faulty. We clean and calibrate refurbished sensors to detect paper accurately (no false error messages).
Here’s how to replace the most common jam-causing part (pickup roller) in 5 minutes:
  1. Open the ADF top cover and locate the pickup roller (it’s the rubber cylinder near the paper tray).
  2. Press the release tab and pull the old roller out.
  3. Slide our refurbished roller into place (it clicks when secure).
  4. Wipe the paper path with a dry cloth to remove dust.
  5. Test with a stack of 20 sheets—no jams mean you’re set.
Our refurbished ADF parts are built to last: we’ve seen businesses cut jam rates by 80% after swapping out worn components for our factory-tested units. For offices with high scanning volume, we recommend inspecting ADF parts every 3 months (we offer a free checklist).
