Epson C17590 jamming after 100 to 200 sheets? A new transfer belt didn't fix it. Here's what did.

We had an Epson C17590 on the bench last week with a jam that ate most of an afternoon. It would print clean for about 100 to 200 sheets, then jam. Clear it, run another batch, and it jammed again in roughly the same place. Intermittent jams are the worst kind because everything looks fine until it isn't.

The first pass was the usual part swap. We changed the pickup and separation rollers, then pulled the transfer belt and fitted a new one. On paper that should have been the end of it. It wasn't. The machine kept jamming in the transfer section.

What took us too long to see: a transfer belt and a transfer assembly are two different things. The belt is only one part of a larger unit. The assembly also carries the frame, the transfer roller, the pressure roller, and the alignment that keeps the belt running straight as paper goes through. If the frame is worn or the assembly is out of true, a fresh belt still rides on a crooked path, and the paper still catches.

The jam was sitting in the transfer section each time, which is what finally pointed us at the assembly instead of the belt. So we replaced the entire transfer assembly. New belt, new roller, new frame, all aligned together. That was the fix. The C17590 has run clean since.

If you're fighting the same jam and a belt swap didn't help, stop swapping belts. Look at the whole transfer unit. From a parts standpoint, buying the assembly as one unit usually beats buying pieces, once you count the labor of pulling it apart and putting it back together twice.
